This Weekend at the Knit Shop

Remember, this Sunday, January 18th is our first We Knit Neighbors Together charity knitting get-together at the shop!  Stop in between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. to work on  projects to donate to babies in need at Meharry or hats for chemotherapy patients through St. Thomas cancer support group.

This Sunday will be a great warm-up to The Big Stitch charity-knitting gathering, which is coming up next week on January 24th!

Also, the shop has recently gotten some shipments of simply yummy NEW yarns, and there’s more on the way!  Stop in to touch and feel all the beautiful new fibers and snag some for your own yarn-stash before they’re all gone!

If that weren’t enough, this weekend we’ll continue our MaggiKnits-along on Saturday from 3 to 6 p.m., then head over to Tina’s for our monthly Spa Night.  Be sure to call the shop to let us know if you’d like to attend Spa Night so that we can give them an accurate head-count in advance.

3rd Annual YarnOver(load)!

YarnOver PartyWhat a great turn-out we had for the 3rd annual YarnOver this past Saturday!  It was food, fun, and fiber -overload!!

Visit our photo gallery page to see pictures from the event.

Many of our knitters participated in our first fingerless mitten swap.  They knitted a pair of fingerless mitts, wrapped them up and put them under our tree, then we drew numbers corresponding to each package and everyone went home with a new pair of lovely mitts!

There were fingerless mittens in every color, pattern, shape, and size you could imagine.  And they were all just beautiful.  You can see lots of photos in the gallery, but here’s a sampling:

Connie Sharon & Lisa Judy

Don’t we have some wonderfully talented knitters?

We also have some very talented chefs, we discovered.  The food everyone brought to share was delicious!  It sparked the idea of a knit shop cookbook.  If you’d like to submit a recipe of yours for the book, please e-mail it to Sharon at info@neighborhoodknitshop.com.  Be looking for more details about the cookbook (and how you can get a copy!) in the coming months.

A reminder — Spa night is next Saturday, 12/20!  Please call the shop if you’d like to attend.
